Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” : Isaiah 6:8
Being called to serve on the altar, or deciding to serve on the altar had been described by Pope St. John Paul II as : “Your commitment to the altar is not only a duty, but a great honour, a genuine holy service. The Altar Server occupies a privileged place in the liturgical celebration. Therefore, in the liturgy, you are much more than simple ‘helpers of the parish priest.’ Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal High Priest. Thus, you, Altar Servers, are called in particular to be young friends of Jesus.”
Serving the Lord is a divine process. Most of our Holy Saints had started their journey towards God as Altar servers. The light in children that were instilled during Baptism and ignited by the other Sacraments reaches an epitome when they serve on the altar.
The Altar Servers Ministry (Malayalam) trains children who have decided to serve the Lord, in the most simple and sacred way. We know that all children who come to us, are gifts of God who’s been called by him for a greater purpose. That is why, every child is trained and supported spiritually without the root of indifference nor lack of concern.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” : 1 Peter 4:10-11. We hope we could lead more children to be faithful stewards of God through us.
